Hi, I’m John Jaen, a documentary photographer and software engineer with a deep passion for storytelling through images. Originally from Costa Rica, I’ve been living in the Netherlands for the past three years, balancing my work in IT with my journey as a travel and documentary photographer.
My photography focuses on capturing authentic human experiences, cultures, and untold stories from around the world. Whether it’s documenting the spiritual energy of the Khumb Mela in Varanasi, the raw beauty of everyday life, or the landscapes that shape our existence, I strive to create images that evoke emotion and curiosity.
I shoot primarily with Canon gear, and my approach blends technical precision with an intuitive eye for narrative. My ultimate goal? To establish myself as a National Geographic photographer, using my lens to tell stories that matter and inspire change.
Follow along as I build my portfolio, explore new places, and refine my craft. If you’re interested in collaborations or just want to chat about photography, feel free to reach out!
